York

York somehow seems to fit us nicely – a collection of quirky shops, stunning history, a railway museum and some great friends.

Mike first visited York as a child (don’t ask his parents about their wedding anniversary which was spent in the Railway Museum at his Dad’s behest!) and then again with ROC, filming / photographing their charity ride out through the North Yorkshire moors led by the wonderful Mr. & Mrs. Banks.  

After Catherine joined the ROC support / media team in August 2023, it was suggested that we take a trip before Christmas to see Castle Howard. Several trips to York and the surrounding area have followed, and it is always a lovely reminder of a very special time of year when we visit.  

Christmas is about family, and not just the family you are born into, but the family you choose. Wandering through the narrow streets of this quaint city, as well as exploring some of the historic monuments like Clifford’s Tower and the Minster, makes us very thankful for our extended “family” wherever they may reside.
